From our spinners in Italy to our design studios, Léa, the studio manager in charge of creating the knits for our collections, tells us here about the creative and theoretical process of knitting at Tara Jarmon 📝
✨How do you choose the materials?
First of all, every season we go to meet our spinners at the Pitti show in Italy. It is there that we select a large part of the yarns that you will find in the Tara Jarmon collections.
We scour the vintages looking for stitches, patterns or materials that could inspire new designs. We have been lucky enough to work for a long time with manufacturers who know us well and who regularly suggest new materials that could correspond to the Tara woman.
Then we launch tests of the stitch sets in different yarns that we have chosen, and it is from these tests that the ideas for the models are born.

✨What is the process of finding the perfect colour for the collection?
At the Tara Jarmon studio we work a lot on instinct. Dominique, our Collection Director, thinks about a range of colours and shares them with us, but sometimes a colour comes up as a matter of course among the team or we choose a colour just for the beauty of the way it looks on the fabric.
✨What is the technical scope of the knitwear collection at Tara Jarmon?
I start from the principle that we should not set limits on the level of requirement and always push the models further.
Consequently, we are uncompromising on the finishing and the fit of the models we create.
Also, Tara Jarmon is "generous", so you will find in our collections a plethora of techniques.
Whether it's a multicoloured jacquard, a twisted stitch with a hand-crocheted finish or a tight milano stitch because we want a sheathing effect on a dress, we explore all techniques. Our credo is: no limits!

✨What does a Tara Jarmon knitwear look like?
Tara Jarmon knitwear is colourful, bright, feminine and fancy!
We have designed the knitwear collection at Tara Jarmon in the image of her dresses and tailoring.
Always neat and chic, it features details and cuts that are sometimes retro but offset by volumes and a modern attitude.
Luxury is always in the details, but we know that our customer is sensitive to this. In the new summer 2022 collection, we have revisited the classic twin-set by combining two techniques on an extra fine merino. The finishing has to be done by hand, and our manufacturer was reluctant to carry out such a programme for such a subtle detail.
It was important to us to offer these unique pieces to our customers, and we managed to finalise it after a lot of discussion and reflection❤️
